Website - Intentions & Reflections

Creating my website is something i have been putting off for over a year. I was wanting to produce a website in my second year of university however it isn't something i have ever done before resulting in me avoiding it at all costs. I don't enjoy working on computers, as a result of this my skills have become limited compared to others. For my website i wanted a clean and polished aesthetic, keeping it simple. Below shows what i produced by myself. I am hoping i will be able to get someone to collaborate with as design isn't one of my strongest skills. I think the way it looks for now is ok but i don't want it to be ok i want it to be impressive. Knowing what your weaknesses are can be extremely helpful as you know when it is best to get someone else to help rather than create something myself that isn't up to standard. For the future i need to get professional images of current work to go on the website as well as getting assistance with the design of the websi...

Teacher training seminar - Notes and Reflection L012

A lot of what was said in this seminar was information i already knew but i thought that it would be best still to attended just in case they had any new information of if there maybe a different direction into teaching that i haven't come across. I kind of realised this seminar was more of a push to apply for teacher training through NORFOLK TEACHER TRAINING  CENTRE as they were the spokes people so they were trying to sell their company which then did make the seminar based solely around them. If i hadnt of been doing my own research before and knowing that there is other opinions for me out there then i guess it would persuade me to go with them. However knowing the knowledge i know i didn't really see myself wanting to sign up to this specifically. Getting into teaching through placement  Need to get a QTS but no necessary to get PGCE - QTS school based experience  was to get into teaching by looking at get into teaching - UCAS Helpful to get some school experi...

Dialogue, Modernities and technologies - Notes and Reflection

Presentations by Catherine Baker, Jamie Gledhill, Steven Pippin, Clunie Reid. Am i optimistic for the future in regards to technology enhancing or am i concerned? Technology is something all the speakers have in common the world around us shifts as technology progresses modernity brings opportunity, brings new ways at looking at the world the rapid rate at which technology is changing can make us feel panicked and overwhelmed  Catherine Baker science technology - the relationship between an artist and a scientist doesn't always work  answers she was looking for werent something she could answer with her own knowledge and research - if ones self cant answer the questions always best to seek someone who does rather than giving a half hearted answer that may be possibly incorrect. When searching for a scientist shes didn't just email everyone she did her research and tried to find the person who best suited what she was looking for - she then research everythin...

Trail Bronze Ivy - Evidence & Evaluation

The idea of casting an organic form in bronze is something neither i or the 3D technicians have done before. The first attempt either of use had done was the ginkgo leaves which i produced last unit. I wanted to challenge my new skills and take the casting up a level. I though if i can cast something as delicate as a leaf why not a branch with leaves or a vine. I brought this idea to the 3D technicians who informed me that it was very unlikely that it was going to work. However i decided to push forward and at least trail different methods to hopefully find a method that would work.  Thinking back to when i was apply wax to the ginkgo leaves, the best method was to avoid getting any wax on the front of the leaves. The front part of the leaf is where the definition in the veins will be most visible and therefore any wax on the front would interfere with the detailing. I thickened the stalks on the leaves with the wax to allow the bronze to flow more freely into the leaves the...

Teaching Abroad or in the UK - Reflection & Research

Before starting 3A3b i had my mind made up on what i wanted to do as a career after university. I had applied for teacher training in Norfolk as well as applying for Teach First Programme and going through UCAS. It seemed as though everything was planned out and that i knew exactly what i was going to do in the up coming year. This changed after one particular lecture, the lecture was highlighting fundings and opportunities for us when we leave university. They touched on organisations that look at funded travel for young artists and was mentioned that working abroad could be done through this. The idea of travel is something i have always pursued much like many others however i have never been able to spare the time to travel for longer periods of time and to far out destinations. for the past 4 years i have been travelling on and off on my own mainly around Europe when ever i had a spare week/weekend. I had planned to spend the up coming summer travelling fir the whole summer goin...

Broomhill National Sculpture Prize - Intention & Evaluation

When i registered my interest in Broomhill Nation Sculpture Prize i initially intend to submit a tree in metal but soon realising that i wouldn't be able to finish it too a high standard. This left me with a competition i had paid for but nothing to submit. I had been thinking about presenting upturned tree roots however the possibility of sourcing one has proved to be rather difficult and i have since steered away from this as a possible venture.  Not wanting to not submit anything at all i have decided to submit the piece i intent to make for the degree show. Weighing up the time i have to make everything means highlights that there wouldn't be enough time to create a brand new sculpture as well as making my degree piece as well as other works. For the submission i had to decide whether i was going to somehow make the vitrine water proof or if i could submit the ivy itself and maybe incorporate it into a new sculpture or straight into nature itself. after evaluation i ...
