Teaching - Reflection & research

In a lecture there was mention about travelling abroad to further my studies, residencies or jobs. This planted a thought into my head, do i really want to be settling down right away? I knew my answer straight away was no. Travelling being something i do in my personal time often booking flights last minute with no knowledge of where i am staying and what i am doing there, often to just wander around and come across anything of interest. i thought i may as well travel now while i have no responsibilities or anything holding me back.

Still wanting to teach as a future career i thought that i could possibly combine both prospects together and look at possibly teaching abroad. This way i could see the countries i wanted to while still gaining a qualification and experience in my future career. It also meant that i would be saving money rather then spending it travelling meaning i would receive a wage. This option seems the most suitable for me. I am someone who often gets bored quickly and from my previous job before university i wound that a desk job wasn't something for me. I need something that's exciting a new and that's exactly what moving abroad and teaching will do.

After weighing up my options and deciding to teach abroad the next step is to see if the applications i have already made into teaching can be pushed back to the following year. This will allow me to concentrate on teaching abroad knowing my application is already set for teaching back in the UK.

I also need to look into what will be the best possible route into teaching abroad, is it better to go with a company that help me the whole time i'm abroad or is it possible to do it myself. deciding where i want to teach is a main factor. Looking at the places i most want to visit and then weighing up which places would be the best to live in for the next 6-12 months. A lot of the places i want to visit, have a lower quality of living and have a high crime rate, weighing this up will be a decider on how i pick what country i will be visiting.

Abramovic Case Study - Research & Evaluation

Performance artist Marina Abramovic adopts a territory where both audience and artist coincide throughout the entirety of her performance. Abramovic’s early career commenced during the 1970’s an era where performance art was ridiculed, only fuelling her aspirations to prove critics wrong. Abramovic’s rhythm series, which constitutes of five individual performances from 1973 to 1974, scrutinizes the tensions between abandonment and control. At the forefront of Abramovic’s rhythm series is Rhythm 10 (Abramovic, M. 1973). Rhythm 10 consisted of Abramovic recording herself stabbing between the fingers of her left hand with 10 knives, as fast as she could; changing knives every time she cut herself. When all knives were used Abramovic would rewind the tape and playing it back, she then began re-performing the actions to the rhythm of the tape. Abramovic wilfully or not, subjected her performance to a rhythm over which she had limited control. Abramovic claims each cut manifesting itse...

Gingko Tree Research

Evidence in Sketch Book After collecting all of my research together i have been extremely drawn to the plants resilience, only enhanced further by its ability to with stand a nuclear blast. From this the plant becoming a symbol of eradicating nuclear warfare and actually being presented as a 'Prize' to cities who become nuclear free. A plant having such a strong history and is very symbolic in multiple ways is something i'm extremely interested in exploring further. While investigating the ginkgo tree and seeing how this may become present in my artwork will be an on going process but i know i must not neglect other investigations - not to put all my eggs in one basket.  Research - Websites https://e360.yale.edu/features/peter_crane_history_of_ginkgo_earths_oldest_tree https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-29920359 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/8941542/Akihiro-Takahashi.html https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/04/opinion/the-whis...
